Poplin, viyela and flannel: the fabrics of our pajamas

Particularly, in relation to our flagship product, the traditional classic men's woven pajamas, the quality of the woven proves to be a key factor.
In the manufacturing and packaging process, we take care of all the details. The fabrics used are selected with the greatest comfort for you, the customers, in mind. The fabrics we use in our products are mainly poplin, viyela and flannel. In this note, we will present the main characteristics so that you can choose your pajamas with complete knowledge.
The poplin is a thin fabric with French origins dating back to the 15th century when it was primarily used in Avignon for liturgical garments. The pope wore this woven, and that is where its name comes from. Poplin can be made from different raw materials: natural (plant or animal fibers), artificial (plant cellulose that mimics cotton or silk), and synthetic (which originate from petroleum). At El Búho Nocturno, we manufacture two lines of pajamas in woven: 100% cotton - for greater comfort and sensitive skin - and another, a bit more economical, as it uses a combination of 60% cotton and 40% polyester. Both are soft, durable, and crisp options that make ironing easier and reduce wrinkles.
The flannel is a woven in a diagonal arrangement that emerged around the 18th century and was traditionally made from cotton and wool, which characterized its thickness as the woven suitable for autumn and winter. Our flannel is 100% cotton and has this diagonal construction. With a natural finish, well-fixed colors, and a special drape.
Finally, we offer a line of men's pajamas and pajama pants made from woven flannel. This woven originated and became popular in the 17th century in Wales, and it is established, by excellence, as the winter fabric due to its thickness and surface wool that retains heat and provides softness to the touch. This fabric undergoes a mechanical brushing process in which a fine metal brushes the woven to create fine fibers. This brushing can be done on just one side, or on both. The latter, which resembles the skin of a peach, is called "Double-Peach" and is the one we use at El Búho Nocturno.
